I have read all the books in this series but this was one of my favorites. I love seeing how Bea thinks and goes through the clues. I loved keeping track of the characters at the party and trying to decide who did what. But my favorite part was the furthering of Bea and Kesgrave's relationship. What a love story! I love how Bea is growing into the relationship and realizing how wonderfully the two of them fit together. Can't wait for the next book. Please keep the marriage and relationship strong. Love how he supports her and helps her whenever she needs it. Read the book. Some people didn't like the early party part evidently but I found it fascinating to see how Bea thinks. Loved it! I love these books and have read all of them so far, but this one was a bit of a drag for the first half. Beatrice has been a Dutchess for two weeks and her late mother's best friend is determined to make her a social success. The ugly duckling has finally become a swan but society still sees her as a duck. Her friend thinks the solution is a murder mystery dinner where Beatrice can show her skills of detection and name the killer. Unfortunately one of the guests saw it as the perfect opportunity to do away with another guest who stands in his or her way. I'm sorry to say I did not find the story interesting until the first 64% of the book was read. That much of the story was taken up with third party narrative consisting mostly of bickering between the party guests. Boy were they annoying. I have a bad habit of peeking at the end of a book if the reading is too boring to see if I want to continue, then I return to where I was and start highlighting all the clues to the identity of the killer. I love trying to figure out how a book is written if the plot isn't enough to keep my interest. There are very few clues to the identity of the killer in the first two thirds of the book. Then the story finally gets interesting. I would think you would have to be a dedicated fan to enjoy the story up to that point. Once the horrible guests finally leave and Beatrice and Damien's relationship is on display the stories takes off like a rocket. I find their loving relationship much more interesting than what pompous politician would kill another pompous politician. The society wives were so vicious and cruel to Beatrice I found them unworthy of my attention. And since there were only tiny bits of clues in this section it seemed like a waste of time and effort to try to determine their possible motives.II would have enjoyed the book more if there had been less narrative and more live action. Remembering a character by a name and a brief description when there are eight new characters was very difficult, and since at least six of them were all equally rude and insulting to each other they seemed like copies of each other. So who had the gaming club? Which one had the daughter engaged to a foriegn Prince? They seemed like all the same person. The last third of the book was so good I want to continue to read this series and hope the next book is a little more interesting.
